Perspective on Tsallis statistics for nuclear and particle physics

چکیده

This is a concise introduction to the topic of nonextensive Tsallis statistics meant especially for those interested in its relation high energy proton-proton, proton-nucleus, and nucleus-nucleus collisions. The three types are reviewed. Only one them consistent with fundamental hypothesis equilibrium statistical mechanics. single particle distributions associated it, namely Boltzmann, Fermi-Dirac, Bose-Einstein, derived. These not solutions conventional Boltzmann transport equation which must be modified rather nonintuitive manner so. Nevertheless limit distribution extremely efficient representing wide variety collisions only parameters, being so-called nonextensitivity parameter $q$. interpolates between an exponential at low transverse energy, reflecting thermal equilibrium, power law asymptotic freedom QCD. It should viewed as new behavior these

Particle Physics in Perspective

I review the development of particle physics in the past from a historical and methodological viewpoint. Particle physics has gone through certain characteristic periods in the course of discoveries and accumulation of knowledge, both experimental and theoretical. To analyze this situation, I draw on the theses of three stages and three modes, and illustrate the points with examples, up to the ...

Nuclear Modification Factor Using Tsallis Non-extensive Statistics

The nuclear modification factor is derived using Tsallis non-extensive statistics in relaxation time approximation. The variation of the nuclear modification factor with transverse momentum for different values of the non-extensive parameter, q, is also observed. The experimental data from RHIC and LHC are analysed in the framework of Tsallis non-extensive statistics in a relaxation time approx...

Astrophysical thermonuclear functions for Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics and Tsallis statistics

One of the first applications of Gamow’s theory of quantum mechanical potential barrier penetration to other than his analysis of alpha radioactivity was in the field of thermonuclear astrophysics [1,2]. Atkinson and Houtermans proposed that the source of energy released by stars lay in thermonuclear reactions taking place near their centres where the motion of nuclei was supposed to be in ther...

Generalized Evolutionary Algorithm based on Tsallis Statistics

Generalized evolutionary algorithm based on Tsallis canonical distribution is proposed. The algorithm uses Tsallis generalized canonical distribution to weigh the configurations for ‘selection’ instead of Gibbs-Boltzmann distribution. Our simulation results show that for an appropriate choice of non-extensive index that is offered by Tsallis statistics, evolutionary algorithms based on this gen...

Blind Analysis in Nuclear and Particle Physics

Over the past decade or so, blind analysis has become a widely used tool in nuclear and particle physics measurements. A blind analysis avoids the possibility of experimenters biasing their result toward their own preconceptions by preventing them from knowing the answer until the analysis is complete. There is at least circumstantial evidence that such a bias has affected past measurements, an...
